FAQ
Do you need to know how to swim to kayak or SUP in Golfo Aranci?
Yes, swimming is required to participate in our guided dolphin spotting tours and self-guided kayak and SUP rentals. This is a fundamental safety measure.
Why is it important?
Although the excursions take place in calm, protected waters along the coast of Cala Moresca, and despite the mandatory use of life jackets, you are still in a marine environment. Knowing how to swim allows you to:
Feeling safer and more relaxed during the experience
Dealing calmly with unforeseen situations
Enjoy snorkelling to the full during stops in hidden coves
🚨 Please note: Life jackets are always provided and compulsory for everyone, both on guided tours and in self-chartering, even for those who can swim very well.
Is there an age limit to participate in the dolphin tour or to rent kayaks/SUPs?
Our activities are designed to the whole family, but there are a few guidelines to follow:
👨👩👧👦 Guided dolphin spotting tour:
Minimum recommended age: 4 years
Do children pay the same as adults? Yes, the tour has a fixed cost per person regardless of age, because each participant occupies a place and requires attention from the guide.
Young children can sit in the double kayak with an adult (in front, between the parent's legs)
🚣 Autonomous kayak rental:
Single kayak: from 14 years (recommended for independent and experienced youngsters)
Double kayak: perfect for families with children aged 4 and up
Minors must be accompanied by an adult in doubles or have a signed authorisation
🏄 SUP (Stand Up Paddle) rental:
Minimum recommended age: 12 years for autonomous use
Younger children can try SUP with an adult at the same table (only if the sea is calm)
What should I wear and take with me on the hike?
Here is the perfect checklist for your day of kayaking or SUP in Golfo Aranci:
✅ Mandatory (supplied by us):
Life jacket (included in price)
Paddle (for kayaks) or SUP paddle
Single/double kayak or SUP
✅ Recommended to bring:
Costume (to be worn underneath)
Rock shoes (essential to enter the water without hurting yourself on the rocks)
Sun cream (possibly eco-friendly, sea-friendly)
Cap and sunglasses (with string so they don't get lost!)
Water (at least 1 litre per person)
Snack (for the guided tour, during stops)
Towel (better in microfibre, takes up less space)
Complete change (for after the hike)
Waterproof phone or photo foil case
GoPro/action cam (if you have it, the dolphins are waiting).
What NOT to bring:
Valuables (leave them in the car or in the storage room provided)
Bulky bags
Glass (absolutely forbidden on the beach)
Do you provide equipment (wetsuit, jacket)? Is it included in the price?
Yes, all technical equipment is included.
P.S Wetsuits are neither included nor compulsory. In Golfo Aranci, in summer (June-September), the water is warm (24-26°C) and it is fine to wear a swimming costume. For those who are particularly cold or book in May/October, we recommend bringing a lycra or short knickers staff.
Can I bring my phone to take pictures?
Of course we do! The dolphins and sunsets of Golfo Aranci are too beautiful not to be photographed. But beware:
📱 How to protect your phone:
Use a waterproof case (you can also buy tear-off ones in local tobacconists or supermarkets)
Alternatively, a tin foil bag to put in your backpack
Le action cam (GoPro) are ideal for underwater videos if you meet dolphins!
⚠️ Important: The telephone is your responsibility. We do not have an equipped storage in the water and there may be small splashes during navigation. If you do not have a case, it is best to leave it in the waterproof compartment of your kayak (almost all our kayaks are equipped with one).
Can I take my dog on a kayak or SUP?
Do you love your four-legged friend and want to take him with you? Here is our policy:
🐶 Guided dolphin spotting tour:
❌ Not recommended (the dolphins may be disturbed and the guide must focus on the group)
🛶 Autonomous kayak rental:
✅ Yes, with some rules:
- The dog must know how to swim (and love water!)
- He must stay calm in the kayak without getting agitated
- Wear a cover so as not to scratch the hull
- You have total responsibility for your dog
🏄 Autonomous SUP rental:
✅ Possible, but not recommended for beginners
- The dog must be accustomed to standing on unstable surfaces
- Some smaller dogs stand in front of the table
- Start close to shore to test reaction
💡 Council: If it is the first time, choose a short hire (2 hours) to see if the dog likes the experience. Always bring fresh water for him!
